About Bridgette
“I’ve spent my entire life (24 years and counting) dreaming about the many possibilities of what life could be. When I was little, I wanted to be a professional figure skater. Later, a pop star. Upon starting college, a journalist. Back in the day, the possibilities seemed endless.
Growing older, not so much. Like many others who came from where I did (Palo Alto, California), the expectation was to land a “respectable” job (take your pick from amongst about 4 different industries), earn a six-figure living, and live happily ever after (having cracked the code to life)!
I quickly learned that this path would not be mine, and that life was not quite so simple. Thankfully, the little girl in me—the one that believed fervently in all the possibility life had to offer—lived on. And I leaned on her heavily.
At age 15, I woke up invigorated with another answer of who I wanted to be. This time, more realistic: an actor! So I could finally learn the great sorcery at play when a couple of hours at the theatre would wrangle my heartstrings, leaving me feeling so painstakingly and beautifully alive in ways that “ordinary” life rarely could. What could be more powerful than that?
Well, it’s since been a decade. And though my path looked nothing like a linear trajectory (more like a ball of tangled yarn, if anything), I always seemed to find my way back to that purpose I discovered at age 15— my north star. I guess she was really onto something after all.”
